About Ake...
Ake designs and handcrafts each item we sell.
Originally from Japan, Ake (pronounced Ah - Kay) has a degree in fashion design. Prior to opening Fashion Palette, Ake designed and handcrafted children's and adult clothing. Her designs were marketed exclusively at upscale boutiques in Japan.
Ake finds creative inspiration from her years spent in Hayama, Japan and Honolulu, Hawaii, and also in the natural beauty surrounding her in her present home in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
When she isn't designing or crafting handbags for Fashion Palette, Ake enjoys yoga, organic gardening and expanding her knowledge of nutrition.
About Nick...
Nick is the customer service manager, web developer and webmaster. Nick's primary business is owner and developer of Charlottesville CSS Web Development, a small firm specializing in handicap accessible, search engine friendly web design, programming and content writing (copy writing). Nick Stone hails from the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. After earning a master's degree in business administration, Nick became Director of Market Research for Kane International Corporation, where he developed his passion for computer programming. Before launching his own computer consulting firm, Nick designed and built an elaborate inventory management software program for Kane's retail operations. Nick also used his computer skills and business knowledge to grow a successful retail store, Paradise Furniture.
During his many years in Hawaii, Nick was an avid surfer. At his new home in Virginia, Nick enjoys studying web development and playing with his dogs.
